Tenbury's police station to stay open ‘until the new year’
6:00pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in News
TENBURY’S police station is likely to remain open until the new year.
PC Tracey Wood told the town council that stations like Tenbury that are earmarked to shut would not be closed for several months.
The Advertiser reported in January that Tenbury was one of a number of stations under threat.
“I do not know when the police station will close but station closures are in stages and Tenbury is in the second phase that will take place in the new year,” she said.
It has not yet been decided where police in the town will be based when this happens, but it is likely to be a shared building where the public have access.
Tenbury will have PC Wood and two community services officers based in the town with support available from locations such as Leominster in the event of a major incident.
There will also be a reduction in the number of police vehicles based in Tenbury to just the one.
