Cleobury's GCSE pupils give Lacon Childe School headtecher, Allan Gilhooley, happy send off
STUDENTS in Cleobury Mortimer gave their retiring head teacher the best possible send off.
Lacon Childe School saw ecstatic scenes when pupils arrived to learn their GCSE results.
It was the best set of results ever for the school and against a national picture of a slight fall in performance.
The school had 71 per cent of its students achieving the ‘gold standard’ of at least five passes at grades A to C including English and Maths.
Lacon Childe’s eBacc pass rate, showing those students who were successful in a broad range of subjects, including a foreign language was 30 per cent.
“Our pupils have risen to the challenge with the standard of their results,” said outgoing head teacher Allan Gilhooley.
“The results are outstanding and show that all the work put in, both by pupils and staff, helps every individual and the school achieve beyond expectations.
“I have always been aware of the commitment by everyone associated with the school and the outstanding level of achievement in the results is a fantastic note on which to begin my retirement.”
Chair of Governors, Nigel Gibbon, praised all the pupils on their results and thanked the staff for all the extra time they have given to help pupils reach their individual goals.
