Ludlow School achieves best-ever GCSE results
LUDLOW School has bucked the national trend with its best ever exam results.
Head teacher Phil Poulton says he is delighted with the results and proud of the students behind a massive improvement in the school’s performance.
The benchmark pass rate of five grades A* to C including English and Maths jumped 13 per cent on the 2012 figure to 60 per cent.
There was also a 14 per cent increase in the number of students achieving five grades A* to C passes overall to 75 per cent.
“They have worked for a long time to achieve these results and they have been overwhelmingly rewarded for their hard work and ability,” said Phil Poulton.
“This year has again proven to be tougher than ever, and I am grateful for the support of everyone involved with the children, particularly the parents, carers and staff.
“Our Maths results are particularly pleasing, with an increase of 19 per cent on 2012, now taking us to 74 per cent.
“There are some tremendous individual results.
“Sisters Alice and Rosie Oatham gained 16A*s, 6As and two distinctions between them.
“It is always good to know that the work of our young people will be enable them to move onto the next stage of their lives. We are so proud of all the students.”
