A LUDLOW firm of solicitors has been taken over after nearly 60 years.

County law firm mfg Solicitors has completed a deal to acquire the legal practice Phillips and Co.

Based in Ludlow, Phillips and Co was established in 1954, with the two-partner firm now headed by father and son team George and Peter Stephens.

Specialising in property, conveyancing, wills and probate, Phillips and Co employs a team of six across its offices in Corve Street and a satellite office in Craven Arms.

The deal means that mfg Solicitors, which has 31 partners and nearly 120 staf f, can now count eight of fices across the West Midlands with their main Shropshire base in Telford.

“George, Peter and the rest of the team have built a strong reputation over many successful years,” said Suzanne Lee, managing partner at mfg Solicitors.

“To have them as part of the mfg family is exciting for us and it’s a deal that will allow Phillips and Co to offer a greater range of expertise and advice to their clients.

Peter Stephens, partner at Phillips and Co, said: “We have worked with some of the partners from mfg over several years and have always been aware of their credentials in a number of legal specialisms.

“We will continue to focus on providing specialist legal services to new and existing clients in and around Shropshire. But the merger will allow us to assist clients in a far greater spread of practice areas than before.”
