A WINNING combination has been lined up to make Local to Ludlow’s first evening event a great success in more ways than just one.

The event, part of the Local to Ludlow Open Days this weekend, is the Live and Local Tapas Night which will be an opportunity for young trainee chefs from the newly launched Grow Cook Cater project to work with local food producers with regular stalls at Ludlow’s local produce market.

Tish Dockerty, organiser of the event, said: “This seems like a great way to broaden the students’ experience by working with quite specialist local food experts.”

One of them will be Ben Foulger, an ex-restaurant chef who makes terrines and pates. The students have a master class with Ben and then will be making items on the day.

There will also be live jazz provided by local saxophonist James Hunt accompanied by the Vibes.

The Open Days weekend is an event where local food producers open their doors to visitors. There are also organised walks, bike rides and mini bus tours. A programme and map are available from the Visitor Information Centre.

The event is organised by Ludlow 21, a not-for-profit local environmental group, and is supported by the Ludlow Slow Food Group.

Tickets cost £9 and are available from www.slowfoodludlow.
