LUDLOW College has held its annual ‘Oscars’.

The Adrian Jones Gallery at the college welcomed guests to the private view of this year’s summer exhibition of A-level photography, art and design, fine art and graphics.

The Media Studies awards featured students screening their final project music videos and collecting their awards down their very own red carpet.

“Each student’s collection is a testament to their commitment, talent and sheer hard work and also to the devotion and care taken by the departments’ staff to support each individual learner,” said deputy principal David Williams.

One of these students is Hannah Boar, described by her tutor as an “outstanding student and an extremely gifted illustrator”.

Hannah is looking forward to studying for a BA in film at Falmouth University following a gap year.

“I am hoping to go into screenwriting after my degree,” Hannah said. “My tutors have been brilliant.

They’ve been really supportive, but also have made sure we push our creative boundaries and not just stay in our comfort zones.”

There was cause for further celebration for three students – Emma Barnett, Oliver Knott and Grace Cooper – who were awarded prizes for their furniture pieces.

These were created as part of an ‘upcycling’ project in partnership with the South Shropshire Furniture Scheme.

The awards were presented by Jean Jarvis, chief executive of the South Shropshire Furniture Scheme, and Philip Sams, honorary doctor of the University of Arts London, London College of Fashion.

People who want to view the exhibition can do so until Thursday, July 11, but need to e-mail Hannah Day at HDay@ludlow-college.
