WHEN Ludlow French Twinning set off for Normandy they had more luggage than usual.
That’s because eight of their members were exhibiting their work at La Ferte Mace’s La Salle Jacques Rousseau.
The 36 pieces included portraits, abstracts and landscapes of the Shropshire and Normandy areas in oil, watercolour and pastel.
Over the 26 years of twinning many opportunities have been made to share ideas and experiences but this was the firstever joint art exhibition with the la Ferte Mace group of the University of All-ages.
Ludlow exhibitors were: Anna Branston, Tom Crowe, John and Sheila French, David Jackman, John Holliday, David Watson Jones. Adam Dawes (aged 12) provided an extra exhibit.
When opening the exhibition, La Ferte Mace’s Mayor Jacques Dalmont, said: “We are holding several international exhibitions of one kind or another this year and I have every expectation that this will be one of the best.”
John French, Secretary of the Association has suggested that Ludlow considers a similar event.
“We are now seriously looking at what we can do along these lines when the French come to Ludlow next year,” he said.
