AS part of Tenbury Town Band’s 30th anniversary celebrations, Classic FM music teacher of the year Matt Stimpson put it through its paces.

Matt, who who won the Classic FM award in 2011 for his outstanding work in musical education, conducted 30 members of the band in a workshop in preparation for its 30th anniversary concert at the Regal on May 11.

Matt was impressed with how hard everyone had worked.

Band chairman Lorraine Gray said: “What a fabulous day of music, challenging and fun in equal measure that has helped us with our preparation for our concert.”

The band was able to run the event after a donation from Bowketts supermarket from its Making A Difference Locally fund.

Tenbury Town Band conductor Melanie Parker said Bowketts’ generous support had enabled the band to try this venture and with its success would be running more events of this nature.

Bowketts’ funding will also enable the band to purchase more music stands to cater for an increasing number of members.
