Man arrested in Ludlow on suspicion of taking a van

A man has been arrested on suspicion of taking a van in Ludlow while its driver was making a delivery.

Police were called to Sheet Road at about 12.20pm on Tuesday 12th March 2013, after the white Mercedes Sprinter van was taken.

A search of the area was carried out and an officer found the vehicle on the B4368 near Broadstone half an hour later.

A man was apprehended in nearby fields by a police dog and the force helicopter.

He has been interviewed and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The van was recovered by police for forensic examination and is not believed to have been damaged in the incident.

Anyone who might have witnessed the incident or anyone acting suspiciously in the Sheet Road area immediately beforehand is asked to contact police on 101.
