THERE is good news on the jobs front from a Herefordshire venue that succeeded in impressing the AA.

A total of 10 new jobs have been announced by Old Downton Lodge, in Downton-on-the-Rock, following the AA awarding it five gold stars for its guest accommodation, together with awards for both its breakfasts and dinners.

In addition to an increase in room reservations, Old Downton Lodge has seen a significant rise in bookings for private dining.

These include small weddings, birthdays, christenings, and as a result, managers Fergus and Anita D’Arcy are now looking to recruit a further 10 local people to supplement their front of house team.

Speaking of the AA awards Anita said: “We were quizzed on where we bought our produce: Not only was most of it from just a few miles radius – but in many cases we knew the producers personally.”
