I WOULD like to respond to the kind letter of support in last week’s Tenbury Advertiser, January 31, from Mr Alec Wall.

I am one of four response officers and a sergeant currently stationed at Tenbury police station.

We are supported by a Safer Neighbourhood Team, with one police officer and three CSOs. As we work on a shift pattern to ensure round the clock coverage, there are a maximum of two officers per shift on duty at any one time. We cover a geographical area of about 250 square miles, mostly rural, including numerous villages, and Tenbury Wells itself.

It would be entirely impractical for us to reduce our vehicle numbers and patrol the town on foot, as at any moment, we may have to respond as far away as Dunley, Clows Top, Wichenford or Martley for example.

There are definitely changes coming regarding the number and location of police stations, but the public can rest assured that there will always be a police officer ready to respond when they need us. I hope this provides some clarity.
