Craven Arms to launch garden scheme

FOR some people the garden is a problem taking up time and energy whilst others would love somewhere to plant and grow.

In Craven Arms a garden share scheme is being launched that may help to find a solution to these two linked issues.

In partnership with Shropshire Council and Craven Arms Community Food, Grow Cook Share is launching its Garden Share Scheme at the Discovery Centre in Craven Arms.

There will be a chance to find out about opportunities to land share in Craven Arms.

With rising food costs can economic sense to grow some of your own fruit and veg but many people do not have access to land that they can grow on.

Allotments can be hard to come by but many gardens are left under used and the objective of the scheme is to connect those who have land to share with local growers who are looking for space.

Grow Cook Share co-ordinator, Valerie Meehan, said: “Food is a universal language that we all share and growing food as a community is a great way to bring people together.”

“Our experience with growing in schools has shown us that children who grow their own veg can’t wait to eat it, so garden sharing is a great opportunity to get growing for free on your doorstep.”

The schene is being launched at the Discovery Centre in Craven Arms on Wednesday, February 13 between 5pm and 7pm.
