WORK on a new £2 million block at Tenbury High School is expected to begin at Easter time.
The extension will be used for the teaching of English and Maths while allowing musicians to play in other buildings.
It had been hoped to begin construction last summer but the scheme has been delayed by a combination of planning issues and the need to move a running track.
A local resident had lodged a complaint because in order to improve access to the site for construction traffic a well established hedge would have to be removed.
“It was an understandable concern and the people became aware of it because a net was put over the hedge to prevent any birds or wildlife to from nesting in it,” said Stuart Cook, the headteacher at Tenbury High School.
“When the work is finished I am sure that the hedge will be replaced with a traditional species.”
A further delay followed over the possible loss of a section of running track which prompted concerns form Sport England .
However, a resolution has been found that will involve moving the track.
