8:00am Saturday 9th February 2013 in News
A TENBURY community cafe for young people is sounding a fanfare of thanks to musicians from the town.
Tenbury Town Band’s sell out Christmas concert at the Regal has given Tenbury's Youth Café a welcome financial boost.
The band has handed a cheque to the Youth Café for £1000.
“Tenbury Town Band itself became a charity last year and we are delighted to be able to give this money to the café, which does great work with young people, much of which goes unrecognised,” said band president Mark Yarnold.
As a result of the donation the future of a weekly session for the young people has been secured for the next 12 months.
“This is a very welcome gift which will enable us to provide additional support for the young people of Tenbury, Burford and its surrounding communities,”
said Louise Taylor, the project manager for Cafe 27.
“We plan to use the generous donation to ensure that our Wednesday evening drop in session is secure for the next 12 months.”
This year celebrates the Town Band’s 30th anniversary with a special concert on Saturday, May 11.
Tickets will be available after February 11 from the Regal box office There will also be a special anniversary dinner for members and past-members of the band to be held at Cadmore Lodge on Saturday March 2. Any members or past-members should see the band website for more details or telephone 01584 881683.
