PRESENTS mean packaging and this leaves massive amounts of cardboard to be disposed of.

But instead of simply being buried in landfill sites a new recycling scheme has come to Ludlow.

On Saturday there was a cardboard collection point at the Furniture Scheme warehouse in Weeping Cross.

The Cardboard Christmas scheme was started in Shrewsbury where there are four collection points and Ludlow is now the second town in the county to get involved.

It is an idea that came into play after Shropshire council ceased collecting card for composting.

Ludlow Pride of Place that holds monthly street cleans, is combined with the South Shropshire Furniture Scheme to hold the cardboard collection.
