CLEE Hill Rugby Club first-team captain Matt Bowen believes his struggling team can slay rivals Bishop’s Castle on Saturday.

Clee may have lost 18-5 at home to Cannock in Midlands Four West (North) on Saturday, but Bowen is still in a positive mood going into the game.

“We have got them away, but it’s one that I’m looking forward to as it’s a chance for us to climb the table,” said Bowen.

“We have played most of the top teams and have got some good results.

“After Christmas, we have got some easier games, so it is a chance to get up the table.”

Despite outside-centre Andrew Broome performing well for Clee Hill, their only score came from a Luke Bowen try as they struggled to contain a useful Cannock side.

Meanwhile, Bishop’s Castle go into the game on the back of a stinging 20-8 victory over Telford Hornets.

Elliott Brookes was the key to Castle’s win as his try, as well as a conversion and a penalty, proved crucial to their win.

Keith Cox also went under the posts, while Jack Holloway scored a penalty. “We have played Clee Hill quite a bit in the past two seasons and they are always close games,” said Bishop’s Castle captain Pete Bevan.

“It’s going to be a hard game as they have got some big boys down there, but we are confident that we can win.”

A penalty from Alex Brazier three minutes from time saw secondplaced Tenbury edge out Uttoxeter 14-13 in the same league.

A try from Levi Barber put Tenbury 5-0 ahead, but Uttoxeter levelled with a try of their own to make it 5-5 at the break.

The second-half was just as tight with Brazier’s boot being key to Tenbury staying in the game and then ultimately winning it for Pete Stevens’ team.

Tenbury host top-of-the-table Market Drayton this Saturday, a game which Stevens thinks his team can get something out of.

“If they bring their best side then it will be a hard game, but our defence at the moment is top notch.”

Cleobury Mor timer lost 34-6 against Edwardians in Midlands Three West (North ).
