POLICE who arrested two youths in Ludlow on suspicion of stealing lead are now trying to trace the owners of the metal.
Officers arrested the youths while on patrol in Weeping Cross Lane during the early hours of Tuesday.
Investigating officer, PC Barry Morgan, said: "We recovered 16 off-cuts of lead in various sizes, about 60 kilos in total."
He added: "At this stage, we don't know where it came from and would urge anyone who thinks they may have had it taken, possibly from an outbuilding or garage, to contact me at Ludlow police station on 08457-444-888."
PC Morgan also urged anyone in the Ludlow or Leominster areas who has had a Mountfield lawn mower with a Briggs and Stratton motor stolen, to also get in touch.
The mower was found at the home of one of the suspects and is believed to be stolen property.
The two youths have been bailed pending further police inquiries.
