WITH Ludlow Festival under way, police have sounded a warning not to leave items of value in unattended vehicles.
The alert comes today (Friday, June 20) after a handbag left in a car in the town was rifled through and things stolen.
A police spokeswoman said: "We would also like to urge drivers never to leave anything of value in their cars, not even hidden out of sight, and always ensure their vehicles are locked and secure when unattended.
"It takes just seconds to get into a car to steal things and offenders know just where to look to see if anything has been hidden from view."
The incident happened in New Street between 8.15am and 8.25am on Tuesday, June 17, when the driver went back into their address, seemingly leaving the car insecure.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Ludlow Police on 08457 444888, along with anyone who might have found the purse discarded anywhere.
Information can also be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
