Disappointing finale as Ludlow go down to Leek
Leek 23 pts Ludlow 8.
WITH little to play for apart from pride, Ludlow ended their Midlands 3 West North campaign on a disappointing note at Leek.
Ludlow had a poor first quarter, failing to perform the basics required to put the bottom side under pressure. They played with little purpose, allowing the home side to put pressure on their defence.
Leek went into a 10-0 lead thanks to a penalty and a converted try. Ludlow hit back in the second quarter and had reduced the difference to two points by the break.
Will Green fielded a Leek kick ahead and set up a counter-attack. The ball moved along the line before Dave Pugh touched down. Mark Williams missed the conversion, but had kicked an earlier penalty.
Ludlow failed to rekindle their momentum after half-time as Leek ran in two converted tries to secure the win, and moved off the bottom of the table as a result.
