Dale’s debut goal brings Town point
Dudley Sports 1 Ludlow Town 1.
DALE Williams came off the bench to score a goal on his debut and earn Town a thoroughly deserved Sport Italia West Midlands League Premier Division point at Dudley.
With the slope and wind in their favour, Ludlow had the better of the first half. They adapted well to the muddy conditions and looked sharp in attack.
Jack Keating went close on a couple of occasions, while Marvin Joseph and Ollie Kesterton both had efforts well saved.
Sports, who are second in the table, scored the only goal of the half, however.
It came on the half hour when the visitors conceded a free kick on the edge of the box. The ball was played across goal and Ross Harris volleyed it home.
Ludlow had to withstand a lively spell from the home side at the start of the second half. They defended well for 10 minutes and then transformed the game with some crisp play down the flanks.
Ludlow had threatened to equalise on a couple of occasions before Williams, who has moved from Market Drayton, marked his first game for the club with a goal.
He headed home after Dean Richards had attacked down the wing and crossed the ball into the box.
The home side pushed forward, but the Town held on to share the points.
Ludlow Reserves also showed their battling qualities, coming from 2-0 and 3-2 down to claim a 3-3 draw with Broseley at the SBS Stadium, despite missing a penalty. Jamie Hammond, Jack Seymour and Adam Bowen scored the goals.
