Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock recently let off some steam over Instagram during filming for Fast 8, labelling his fellow male co-stars “candy asses” – an insult Vin Diesel later claimed was aimed at him.

It’s not unusual for Johnson, or at least The Rock, to run his mouth – it’s what his WWE persona was built on. But it seemed a little unusual to let the world in on behind-the-scenes issues on set.

According to a Life and Style source though the whole thing has been exaggerated to build up to a WrestleMania fight between the two behemoths with the goal of promoting Fast 8, which is scheduled for release the same month as wrestling’s showpiece event.

The Rock maintains a close relationship with the WWE despite using it as a springboard to launch his Hollywood career, and he often returns to the ring for main events.

A WrestleMania fight for Diesel, meanwhile, would be an epic moment to be introduced to the franchise. And a fight between the pair would more than likely be welcomed by supporters.

“The Rock convinced Vin to amp up the drama between them so they could turn it into a WWE match to help promote the April 2017 release of Fast 8,” Life and Style’s “insider” said, and that would seem to make more sense than The Rock airing his laundry in public.
