Tears of happiness flowed from both mum-of-four Jane Devonshire and viewers at home as she was crowned 2016 MasterChef champion in one of the show’s closest ever finals.
The finalists pulled out all the stops with inspired three-course menus that featured Jack’s cheffy-take on bubble and squeak, Billy’s pork and pineapple and Jane’s winning Indian-inspired Sunday roast.
But it was the stay-at-home mum who left judge Gregg Wallace grinning like a Cheshire cat and John Torode professing everything was “lovely, just lovely” as the gruelling seven-week competition came to a close.
Jane shared a wonderful picture of her overjoyed family as she thanked fans for their support.
And it was an emotional moment for Jane’s fans too as she was handed the trophy – not helped by the choice of Adele music in the background.
Congratulations, Jane!
