Controversial TV star Katie Hopkins has been voted the UK’s scariest female celebrity, beating former Watchdog presenter Anne Robinson into second place.

The combative former candidate of The Apprentice topped a poll of 2,000 Brits, with over a quarter of those surveyed putting her ahead of the likes of Heather Mills, the ex-wife of Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, and reality star Katie Price.

The poll, which also saw Dead Or Alive front man Pete Burns at number one on the male scare list, was conducted by Thorpe Park Resort to celebrate the launch of Containment, a new fright nights maze.

Containment is inspired by real-life fears such as claustrophobia, the dark and the dentist.

Thrill-seekers must complete a set task in under five minutes or face being tagged as “contaminated”, meaning their fright nights experience across the rest of the park may be that little bit scarier…

In recognition of the outcome, the new scare experience also features Katie Horror Hopkins, a costume character in a Katie Hopkins-like mask who will be giving people the fright of their life in the run-up to Halloween.

Mike Cutter, Thorpe Park Resort entertainment manager, said: “The new fright nights scare experience, Containment, is based on real-life fears including claustrophobia, the dentist and the dark so it goes without saying, we had to create a new character around the UK’s scariest female celebrity Katie Horror Hopkins.”

Fright nights launches on Friday October 9 and runs until Sunday November 1.
