“My favourite Christmas memory has to be when he found out that Gail had wanted to abort him and he revealed that to everyone on Christmas Day, that was good to play.”

Meanwhile Ben, who plays his brother Nick Tilsley, agreed his was of the family’s Christmas too: “On my very first day at Corrie I had to film Christmas dinner at the Platts’, it was brilliant.”

Kate, who plays Tracy Barlow, added her screen family’s Christmases could be just as dramatic: “It’s always interesting at the Barlows’ as there’s always something going on during Christmas. I just enjoy filming a Barlow Christmas, it’s lovely to be a part of it.”

Antony, whose character Sean Tully lives with the Grimshaws, shared his funny memory of filming Christmas: “I always remember Ryan Thomas (Jason Grimshaw) eating everybody’s Christmas dinners at the Grimshaws’ one year.

“We had to play the scene and everyone was feeling a bit sick because we had eaten so much food but Ryan just started shovelling everyone’s food in his mouth.”

Paula teased that her character Kylie Platt’s Christmas this year would be one to remember: “We were filming a scene involving Kylie on her own and I was stood out on the Street. I took a moment to look around at all the mechanics that come together to film the show, especially when we’re filming Christmas with snow on the Street.

“The Street just looked absolutely magical. Although the scene we were filming was very sad, it was a really special moment looking around the Street at the snow and the Christmas lights, and it was really quiet, too.”

Simon, who plays Steve McDonald, described his best memory of the work Christmas party: “Our first Christmas do we had to dress in tuxedos, we were like ‘Oh, we’re at a posh do where there’s champagne’.

“At the time nouveau cuisine was in so all the blokes in the cast were standing in the hotel foyer with a McDonald’s because everyone was starving.”

Samia, who plays Maria Connor, also added her story about a festive party: “Around Corrie’s 40th anniversary, I had been in the show for just under a year when we did the live episode at Christmas and we had a big party afterwards.

“It was a really nice memory actually, we had a load of parties going on at that time.”
