One of the hottest acts to emerge from the gutsier underbelly of Nashville’s music scene, the soulful pairing of Ben DeBerry and Dorothy Daniel has built a huge fan base on both sides of the Atlantic. On tour here for the first time, The Danberrys, in trio format with renowned bass player Geoff Henderson, are one of the main acts for this year’s Maverick Americana festival and have won various awards and nominations for Best Americana Album, and they will be at SpArC Theatre in Bishop's Castle on Thursday, July 6, at 7.30pm.
The couple’s musical magic springs from a relationship that started when they were just teenagers. They dated in high school, and eventually went their separate ways – reconnecting some years later to find that Dorothy's love of soul and blues music offered an interesting pairing for Ben’s love of bluegrass, rock and country and they found middle ground – their common interest in folk music.
