Thriving local artists' co-operative Artistree opened their second exhibition of 2017 yesterday at the gallery upstairs in the 16th century Ledbury Heritage Centre in Church Lane.

Spring into Summer showcases the wide ranging talents of the Ledbury-based artist and designer co-operative and runs until the end of June.

Cheltenham-based sculptor Alice Shield offers emotional and spiritual insights into the female psyche through her languid figurative works.

Cantillon Howell's exquisite glassworks are outstanding in form and design, and textile artist Marion Steele, from Worcester, looks to sea and the coast for inspiration, to weave and stitch evocative warm-textured interpretations.

The sea has also inspired artist Paddy Hannigan in his two large-scale paintings interpreting the elemental forces in a semi-abstract form, while Bill Denny uses a Cubist-style approach in his artistic journey encompassing the intense relationships between form and structure.

Photographer Brian Griffiths offers evocative images of locations across the borderlands of England and Wales in every season, every weather and every landscape.

Based in Newent, encaustic Artist Jane Foot gets her inspiration from the written word. Here her new work stems from personal lettersand from poems by Edward Thomas (one of the Dymock Poets, who died 100 years ago this year) in 'Invisible Threads.'

Also exhibiting are Jen Janes, with her gentle and harmonious interpretations of nature and landscapes; Brian Richardson with his abstracted interpretations of physical and emotional life events, and Alan Richardson ,with his collections and concoctions of metal and wood figures and artefacts.

The exhibition runs from Wednesday May 17 through to Sunday, June 25, Wednesday to Sunday (and occasional Tuesdays) 10.30 to 4.30pm. The Gallery is manned by the Artists themselves, with a warm welcome and the opportunity to talk about the artworks on display. www.artistree.org.uk, follow us facebook.com/galleryofartistree and twitter @homeofartistree.
