ARTS Alive presents Labels, an award-winning, intimate new solo show from Worklight Theatre.
Amidst a cacophony of statistics and sound bites, Labels offers an honest, human – and at times very funny - story about multicultural Britain. The writer and performer Joe Sellman-Leava uses his own experiences of mixed heritage and racism to unpick the curiosities and fears around immigration and the ongoing refugee crisis.
Labels enjoyed a sell-out run and standing ovations at Edinburgh Fringe 2016, having won a Scotsman Fringe First award 2015, the Holden Street Theatres Award and a nomination for Amnesty International’s Freedom of Expression Award.
Arts Alive Director, Sian Kerry, saw Labels in Edinburgh and loved it: "It's funny, makes you think and is bang up to date."
Before the shows, Joe Sellman-Leava will work with older pupils from local schools to explore some of the issues raised and their own experiences of ‘labelling'.
See Labels at SpArC Theatre in Bishops Castle on Friday, March 24 at 7.30pm. To book, call 01588 630321/ 638038 or visit sparctheatre.co.uk
