JIMMY Osmond has become something of a regular on the UK's reality TV shows, coming fourth in I'm a Celebrity Get Me out of and earlier this year, reaching the final three of Celebrity MasterChef. "I never win," he says with a laugh, adding that he signed up for MasterChef for his daughter Bella. "I did it as kind of a dare because my daughter loves to cook and we like to watch programmes like that, but it ended up being a lot of fun for me," he reveals.

"And every time I've done one of these shows I have taken away friendships that have lasted. When you're having an intense experience you really kind of bond with people that you normally might not."

This month Jimmy is back in the UK not for a reality show, but with his own spectacular show, The Andy Williams Christmas Extravaganza.

"We do it a bit differently here," he says of the show, which in the US has a huge cast. "It's more of a concert show here, but it does have variety acts and dancers and video walls. It's a bit more warm and fuzzy which we love!

"It has everything from Slade to Andy Williams's It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, with our Osmonds' hits in the middle of it all."

Jimmy is generally in the UK for about five months of the year - touring his own show Moon River and Me as well as The Christmas Extravaganza and produces some 400 shows at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Centre which he took over to fulfil his promise to his friend and mentor to keep the legacy alive of the Moon River Theatre alive.

This year the family, wife Michelle and children, Sophia, Zachary, Wyatt and Bella, will be spending Christmas in the UK. "We're going to rent a house and have a proper British Christmas," he says, adding that a lot of Americans don't do Christmas, as Thanksgiving is the big holiday, so they're looking forward to being here for the festive season.

Unbelievably, 'Little' Jimmy Osmond has been in show business for 50 years now: "I started as a three-year-old thinking that every kid did what I did. I don't really count the days I've been doing it, but I do look back and go 'wow' occasionally.

"I do put my kids in the show sometimes too, but I really wanted them to have a normal childhood. They like it but they have lots of great friends and experiences in high school and university, going to prom," all the things, he says that he never did. "But I wouldn't trade it for the world, and we wouldn't do it if we didn't love it.

"When you see people leaving your theatre feeling that the time, money and effort they have spent has been worth it, it's really a great business. Andy Williams told me something quite cool. It was great in later life to connect with him because in many ways we'd feared him because he was the boss (The Osmonds first came to public notice in the Andy Williams Show). He said 'Don't every think that people are going to see your shows to see just you or me. You look into people's eyes and you see them pass down a song that was a hit of yours and sharing that moment, YOu have a much different experience when you learn that it's not about you. When you have that perspective everyone has more fun."

"It’s truly the most wonderful time of the year, and my brothers Jay, Merrill and I are looking forward to once again bringing back some of that Christmas cheer. The Andy Williams Christmas Extravaganza is an American tradition that started in the 60s and is loved around the world.

The show features special guest stars from Britain’s Got Talent – ventriloquist Steve Hewlett and one of the show's stand-out young singers Charlie Green complete this unforgettable festive family tradition alongside the Moon River Singers and dancers. The Andy Williams Christmas Extravaganza will be at Malvern Theatres on Thursday, December 22 at 7.30pm. To book, call the box office on 01684 892277 or visit malvern-theatres.co.uk
