NO less than eight gorillas will be appearing at this year’s Bishops Castle Carnival on Sunday, July 5.

Each standing approximately two metres high these fabulous creatures are entirely constructed in metal and were created by the British Ironworks Centre in Oswestry.

Clive Knowles, chairman of the centre, kindly agreed to display the gorillas at this year’s Carnival. He says,

"We have made these great characters as fun for kids and the family and we are very happy to provide them to Bishops Castle Carnival as a display. This sort of activity not only helps the local communities but it creates a much greater awareness of the fantastic range of metal products that we provide to customers around the globe”.

Finished in vibrant summer colours the gorillas have been created specifically for this summer’s outdoor events. Each gorilla is holding a giant bunch of bananas and is completely hand made.

The centre is home to a splendid collection of magnificent animal sculptures, with everything from the gorillas to a variety of farm animals.

Bishops Castle Carnival takes place on Sunday, July 5, beginning at 1pm with the parade of floats through the town. The Carnival opens at 2pm on the recreation ground with the crowning of this year’s Carnival Queen.
