LEOMINSTER-based puppet theatre company The Fetch have a well-earned reputation for putting on exciting and unusual performances. Their shows look for new and innovative ways to involve audiences and their latest production, Trench Cow, is no different.

With the centenary of World War I very much in the public’s consciousness, The Fetch have decided to use this piece of theatre to explore the connections between Shropshire, Punjab and the Great War.

The organization will create an interactive space within Ludlow Assembly Rooms, using inventive and stunning set designs to recreate India and the trench battlefields of World War I.

As always, The Fetch’s lovingly crafted puppets will be used to bring the story to life. Anyone who has seen their performances before will know that these puppets, created by a highly skilled team led by artistic director Purvin, are incredibly detailed works of art.

After the show is finished, audiences will have the unique opportunity to chat with Purvin and the other members of The Fetch while enjoying some English tea and biscuits, or if they fancy a taste of India, some chai tea and spiced cake.

"We’re delighted to invite The Fetch puppet theatre back to Ludlow Assembly Rooms," says LAR's marketing officer Tony Johnston. "Their shows are popular with audiences of all ages and people love seeing their incredible puppets up-close.

“This particularly topical community theatre project will offer a fascinating new insight into World War I and will give audiences the chance to learn something new about their local area and its ties with what was a truly global event.”

Trench Cow: A community theatre project, will be at Ludlow Assembly Rooms on Monday, March 23 at 5pm and 6.30pm, and on Tuesday, March 24 at 10.30am and 1.30pm. To book, call the box office on 01584 878141 or visit ludlowassemblyrooms.co.uk
