SEAN Hughes started his career as a stand-up comedian by becoming the youngest winner of The Perrier Award.
Several sell out tours later and two series of Sean’s Show for Channel 4, Sean diversified into writing, presenting and acting, costarring with Peter Davison in The Last Detective (ITV).
It’s several years since Sean’s done stand-up; he admits he had got tired of it.
Now he’s back on the circuit because, he says, it’s “the one thing that puts the fire in my belly.
“I guess it’s like returning to my first love. I’m excited about playing small venues and seeing how far I can take it. My problem is I engage with the audience too much, so half the material doesn’t get out. But I’m very much into the idea each night should be different.”
Sean brings his latest show, What I Meant to Say Was, to Ludlow Assembly Rooms next Thursday at 8pm. Call the box office on 01584 878141.
