Tourist Information Centre one of the best in the UK

A MYSTERY shopper exercise carried out at the Malvern Tourist Information Centre (TIC) has placed it among the best in the country.

The TIC scored a total of 87.39 points out of a total 100, making it the second best in the West Midlands, and 13th in the whole country.

The exercise had initially revealed a lower ranking for Malvern, due to an error in the assessment paperwork, but this was corrected on appeal and the TIC has now received its corrected ranking.

The mystery shopping exercise consisted of a visit to the TIC, two phone calls, and two emails to assess things such as wheelchair access, window displays, staff attitude and telephone manner.

Cllr Phillip Grove, responsible for Tourism, is delighted with the result.

"This is fantastic news for all the staff at the TIC, as it is recognition of all the hard work they put into visitor services," he said. "We are aiming for excellence as a council, and as part of that mission we will be looking to improve and enhance visitor services even more over the next few years, whilst providing value for money to our tax payers."
