Town look to New Year with hope

Ludlow Town move into the second half of the season in the hope that their largely locally-based squad of players will lift them to the top half of the West Midlands League premier division.

It has been a difficult season for the club having been relegated from the then Travel Factory Alliance. And with a crop of injuries making fielding the strongest team a difficulty, points have been hard to come by.

However, manager Chris Richards was buoyed by the club's home 5-0 victory over Wednesfield on December 17 and is looking to the New Year with hope.

With a blank Christmas programme, Ludlow's next game will be away at Tividale on New Year's Eve.

"It has been a mixed christening in the West Midlands League," Chris said just prior to the festive break. We have a young side and it has taken us a bit of time to settle down.

"But we have a good basis on which to develop the club with the emphasis being on players ready and willing to fight for their place."

Uppermost in the manager's mind is to develop the club with local players and he is hopeful that in coming months the 'untapped resource'that is south Shropshire will be fully studied.

Off the playing field, Ludlow Town is gearing up to start its 500 Club at the end of January and it is looking for a minimum of 150 people to support the new lottery. This it is hoped will providce much-needed revenue for the club.
