A TENBURY student has earned a First Class Honours degree after completing her studies at the University of Worcester.

Alexa-Jane Moore, who studied accounting, will graduate at Worcester Cathedral in November.

"I was very happy that I attained a First as it was my aim on going to university. With the graduate market being so competitive, I felt that I needed a First to stand out," says 23 year-old Alexa-Jane, a former Tenbury High School pupil.

"I have really enjoyed my time at the University of Worcester. I achieved AAA at A-level, and was accepted to many Russell Group universities but I choose Worcester as it was smaller and had a 'homely' feel.

"I felt that being a smaller university that I would have more opportunities; this has been true," she adds.

Alexa-Jane will continue her education at the University of Worcester by studying a postgraduate certificate in coaching and mentoring next year, while also coaching GCSE pupils through a personal development module at Archway Academy.

University of Worcester vice chancellor, Professor David Green, said: "This year, over 250 University of Worcester students earned First Class Honours. This is a tribute to their hard work and talent together with the University's ability to help students thrive.

"This record number of graduates with Firsts underlines the value of a University of Worcester education, as does the fact that so many of our graduates are being snapped up by employers on graduation. 15 out of 16 of our students were in employment or further study last year within six months of graduation and with these results, the future for Alexa-Jane and her fellow graduates looks even better."
