LUDLOW Larks Community Choir raised more than £800 for the Mahaque Well Fund at its concert at the Methodist Church.

They were joined by The Men From Off, a male voice choir from Bishop's Castle, and sang to a packed house.

The fund was started last year by one of the choir members to sink a bore hole in her daughter's village in Mozambique. So far it has raised the funds to open three wells and a fourth is on the way to completion.

The choir is now in its sixteenth year and performs songs from around the world. This year it included a song written by choir leader, Polly Bolton, using the words of First World War Harry Patch.

“It's called 'If I Had My Way' and is being sung around the country by community choirs as part of the commemoration of the start of the First World War," says Polly, who wrote the song two years ago.

Larks choir always welcomes new members and starts singing again in September. Their dates can be found on www.jollypages.co.uk/larks.
