THE bank holiday took on a distinctly medieval flavour at Ludlow Castle with a performance by the Knights of the Damned.

The knights gave an exciting display of jousting as they showed how they would have fought for their castle in medieval times.

They presented a variety of stunts and horsemanship perfected from having performed at major venues throughout Europe since 1990.

The displays boast high speed action, skilful mounted knights, galloping horses, falls, weapons, as part of a colourful spectacle fit to grace an arena as majestic as Ludlow Castle.

The entertainment included jesters, medieval music, a bird of prey display, face painting, willow art and a chance to have a go at archery.

Forthcoming events at the castle include Ludlow Spring Festival and Marches Transport Festival on Saturday May 10 and Sunday May 11.

Following this there will be the Battle Heritage Medieval Experience on May 26.

This will offer a chance to visit a soldier encampment to see how they lived and trained for battle in medieval times.
